Mayor– One (1) position

Councillor – Four (4) positions

The nomination period runs May 1, 2026, to August 21, 2026.

Nomination packages are available at the Village of South River office.

* Completed Nomination Paperwork

* Filing fee (refunded upon successful filing of campaign financial statements):

𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

To run for municipal office, you must:

* Be a Canadian citizen.

* Be at least 18 years of age on the day you file your nomination.

* Reside in the Village of South River, own or rent property in the Village, or be the spouse of an owner or tenant.

* Be eligible to vote in the municipality.

* Not be legally prohibited from voting or disqualified from holding municipal office under any legislation.

 

Please note: You must meet all eligibility requirements on the day you file your nomination.

You cannot run for office if you are:

* Not eligible to vote in the municipality.

* An employee of the municipality who has not taken the required unpaid leave or resigned.

* A judge of any court.

* A Member of Parliament (MP), Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), or Senator.

* An inmate serving a sentence in a penal or correctional institution.
